About Floorball Brisbane
What is Floorball?
Floorball is a fun indoor team sport played with plastic sticks and a very light ball. The main objective is to score more goals than your opponent. It has strength, speed and skill all in one package – without any acceptance for violence. It is easy to learn, yet eye-catching to watch due to a combination of tremendous tempo, quality teamwork and unbelievable individual efforts.
It’s played in over 80 countries around the world, often under the names Innebanny, Salibandy or Unihockey.
It is suitable for men, women and children and very easy to learn!
You can find more info on the International Floorball Federation site
What are the rules?
A game consists of 5 field players and a goalie on each side and the aim of the game is to score more goals than the other team.
The ball may be propelled with the stick or the player’s foot but a player may not use their foot twice without stick contact in between.
An official game consists of 3 periods of 20 minutes each, however we adjust the length of the period in our training sessions to match the number of substitute players. Floorball requires a lot of running!
For the full rules please see the International Floorball Federation
Is it hard to learn?
It’s very easy for beginners to pick up the sport and join in with any game. Over time greater skills for stick and ball handling will develop and your passing, shooting and more advanced game play will improve.
How often do you play?
Juniors play Saturdays 8.45 – 11am. Seniors play Saturdays 11am-1pm. We know life is busy, so join in when you can!
During the autumn and winter season we also play Tuesdays from 7-8.30pm.

Is Floorball a contact sport?
Floorball is not considered a contact sport and there are rules to make it a safer sport. For example, body-checking as seen in ice-hockey and slashing with the stick are illegal moves. Field players must not use their hands or head to play the bal and the goalkeeper does not use a stick.
